About Heritage:

Heritage is a song from the 2017 debut album "XIII" by Diabolous Nightbreed. It utilises an anti-nationalistic quote from comedian Doug Stanhope in the intro which was partial inspiration for the track.

The hateful heritage of our terrible traditions

Antiquated nonsense, an intolerable lack of vision

Welcome to the world feel free to join in any time

Leave behind the ludicrous lies and help progress the future of humankind

Cross communications lost in a war of static noise

The armies of our dystopia march to the beat of their own worthless wars

Moronic farces more alike than is comfortable to admit

Mirror images making the same mistakes and failing to move on

There is no future without awareness, history has a place

But it's not something to be worshipped, we can learn from past mistakes

Separationist mentality, a hateful reminder of our shameful pasts

Remove the bigoted bias and you'll find we're somewhere close to free at last

The disgraceful behaviour wrought on behalf of good intentions

Validating countless atrocities daily without intervention

The ones who claim the moral high ground usually turn their backs on truth

Blind until it serves their cause, only then will their tent poles begin to move

The wars were fought so long ago, the blood was spilt, the hatred won

But time it seems can heal old wounds and from scorched earth a seed was sewn

A ray of light, yet faithless, anew, no more wars to wage, just truth to pursue

A gift from no one and nowhere but one with a boundless worth

Such a vast wealth of knowledge waiting to be unearthed

Or buried deep should we choose to return to fictitious primal things

Forgoing reason for ancient fables and let the inevitable darkness back in
